I did not grow up attending church. I began going to my amazing hairstylist when I was 18, and she was faithful to mention something about God every time I was in her chair. Eight years later, I finally asked her to take me to church. After a few short months I felt the calling to trust Christ as my Savior.
I have a business degree from the University of Texas at Arlington and worked many years in the marketing field. After marrying my husband James and beginning our family, I had the opportunity to stay home and raise my children. While I enjoyed serving in Children’s Ministry from the time I trusted Christ, this sweet time was especially meaningful as I was able to pour into my own kids and their church friends. I began teaching in the Mix and was asked to be Mix Coordinator in 2013. Two of my sweet spots are teaching and writing curriculum, which landed me the Children’s Ministry Assistant position in 2015. In 2018, I was asked to lead the incredible Children’s Ministry team, and I enjoy every minute. I have the privilege of watching the light bulb turn on as kids begin to discover God’s great plan of redemption and how they fit into it. My passion is leading families closer to Christ and helping parents disciple their kids. I am also on the Biblical Counseling team and am truly honored to walk with and encourage people to live the abundant life in God alone.
My husband, James, and I have been married since 2001 and we have five really cool kids – Elijah, Levi, Bo, Elizabeth, and Simon – and one very special daughter-in-law, Valeria. On the weekends, you’ll find any number of the Thomas family at our apiary in the tiny town of Otto, Texas. I love to read, crochet, travel and talk about bees, cats and Jesus.
