Dear CBC Family,

Over the last 11 weeks, the Central Bible Church Nominating Committee (the Elder Board and the 3 at-large members that comprise the Nominating Committee) have been in a time of prayer individually and collectively to seek the Lord’s direction for our church regarding our Lead Pastor role. We began this process considering two options for the lead pastor position, an outside search or elevating an internal candidate. Our sole desire through this process was to seek the Lord’s will for our church moving forward, and to pray individually for direction before voting collectively.

After reaching out to key leaders and staff, and as we began to discuss the Lord’s guidance, it was clear to us that we were being led to ask Dr. Roger Sappington if he would be willing to be considered for the role. Roger communicated to the committee that he has felt called to be a lead pastor, and after a time of prayer he agreed.

Following weeks of interviews and prayerful consideration, the committee came back collectively to vote as a Nominating Committee and were 100% in agreement that Dr. Roger Sappington should be put forward as Lead Pastor of CBC. The unanimity we have as the Nominating Committee is a blessing from the Lord and an affirmation that this is the direction He has been taking us.

Over the coming weeks, the Nominating Committee members will be visiting Community Groups to provide further details and to address questions. And on Sunday, November 9, right after the worship service (instead of Community Group time), we will host a Q&A time with Roger from the stage. This will be a great opportunity to hear his heart and vision for CBC. To help us make the best use of our time together, we are asking church members to submit questions to the Nominating Committee in advance. If you would like to submit a question, please fill out the online form by Monday, November 3.

There will be future communication regarding the details of a congregational vote of eligible members to affirm Roger as Lead Pastor.

We are thankful for all of you, our church family, and are excited about the direction the Lord is taking CBC.

In Christ,

CBC Nominating Committee
